03.19.04 - Do I ever cross your mind, anytime? Do you ever wake up reaching out for me...

:: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 ::
Good God, it's already the next Wednesday, and sadly, I haven't achieved much more than last Wednesday. A recap of the week, shall we?

I don't remember when it was, but I rented several movies from Blockbuster and I can say that I'm expanding the film library within my brain. School of Rock, Lost in Translation, and yes, even Honey were all very enjoyable movies. School of Rock's on sale as previously viewed for 19.99 at Blockbuster right now, and I get a dollar off. I'm debating as to whether or not I should get it.

Thursday was the first Leafs game against the Sens. As part of my bandwagon jumping, I didn't watch this game, but I watched Sunday's so that's all that really matters, since they lost Thursday's game anyway. There's so much Leafs-hate. Why? Because we're too good? We know, you don't need to tell us. (Haha, watch now as several people who used to like me gain a newfound hatred.)

Friday was Good Friday as many know, although it was almost like another day for me, since I'm not religious whatsoever. In any case, I got up around 9, returned my movies to good ol' Blocky (that's what I'm going to call it from now on, FYI), then I headed to work. White Rose... is a vast... super-wasteland. Except, that now we're getting maximum hours so that's all good for the things I need want to buy. Friday wasn't so bad. No wait, that's not right... Friday was brutal. So many frackin' customers! Check out this conversation I had with one of our great customers:
Lady: Where are your longstemmed roses
Me: (I was helping someone else out so I was being snappy) We don't have any.
Lady: But aren't you called White Rose?
Me: (At this point, I looked over to Karen, one of our managers to see if I was the only one who thought she was odd. I wasn't.) Yes... *insert one-eyebrow raise*
Then I went away...but apparently, she argued some more with Karen about why we're called White Rose and don't sell cut roses.

Friday night...what did we do...oh right! I finally saw Bend it Like Beckham when Sarah brought it over. Good times. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers or whatever the hell his name is looks real good in that lighting in that particular scene --> anyone who's seen it will know what I'm talking about...

Saturday was more work: It was so sunny outside but so damn cold! Stupid drafts coming in from both doors did not make it an all-too-pleasant shift. Although, I did only have a few bitchy customers, so that was okay. I don't remember much else about Saturday...oh right, closing was fun. Matt told Dominique that we had to be there until 9 (it was around 6:30 when he said this) and she was freaking out. Then there was this completely strange incident where I went to ask her what time it was by walking towards her and she jumped; then we couldn't stop laughing. Yeah, anytime where laughing's involved, it's good. Even when you're tired and want to go home...

Sunday...more work! Again sunny outside - not so much inside. But, we did get to go to Sarah's grandmother's after for Easter dinner, and damn was it good. Seriously. I was so full afterwards, I couldn't breathe. Luckily, I parked a block away so I got some after-dinner exercise in.

Monday: more work. This shift was actually really fun, I felt. Well, except for the fact that it was freezing, and my fingers felt like they were going to fall off. But Danielle's back, which renders a good "yay" from me because I like Danielle... Anyway, there were an abnormal amount of crabby customers. Well, not number wise, but definitely percentage wise...probably about 25% of customers walking into the store were bitchy or scammers or both. A father and son came in, wanting to return fertilizer that they bought the day before, I must've told them a million thousand times before I finally got Karen to put her foot down. They left in a huff, but it's not my problem that they bought the wrong fertilizer. It's called final sale for God's sake, what's so hard to understand about that??

Uh, today was full of crap. Studying, or attempting to study. Tomorrow - same thing. Same thing for the day after.

You can call me Screwed from now on....

Until next time,
Screwed.
